Justin Trudeau Berated By Xi Jinping at G20
World leaders met last week at the Group of 20 summit in Indonesia to discuss a variety of issues at hand, including the war in Ukraine, COVID-19, climate change, etc.
But the summit wasn’t free of some diplomatic drama. Video of an uncomfortable exchange between Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Chinese President Xi Jinping made rounds on social media.
Here is the video if you missed it:
In the video, President Xi accuses PM Trudeau of leaking the details of a private conversation the two leaders had. Watching the body language between these two men, it is VERY obvious who’s in charge.
PM Trudeau was nearly shaking in his boots when President Xi confronted him. It’s almost as if we could read his mind going “please forgive me please please please.” Then Trudeau awkwardly walks away after the exchange ends.
This interaction is indicative of China’s power and influence in our world right now. It seems to be that most country leaders are too scared to stand up to China, and are nervous or apologetic when China expresses dissatisfaction.
China should be taken much more seriously by western leaders. They have numerous human rights violations, misled the public about COVID-19, and are becoming more aggressive militarily in recent years. If China believes they can walk all over the leaders of western countries, then their horrific actions will not be stopped.
