Haitian Migrants Show Up On The Beach of Jupiter, FL

I live in Jupiter, a small idyllic beach town in southeast Florida. Last Sunday, December 5th, as I sat on my porch looking at the ocean waves, I saw no less than ten police cars and three helicopters circling my beach. It was terrifying. One does not expect to see massive police activity in such a peaceful, serene community.

I ran outside to ask the police what was happening. Naturally, they were tight-lipped. I called a friend with connections to the police force. Her knowledge was confirmed by several local and national news outlets: over 20 Haitian migrants were driven ashore in a fishing boat. The captain was gone, the boat was impounded, and the migrants had fled.

Although most were captured the same day, a few remained in the community. Residents, like me, were told to lock our doors, be on the lookout and call the police if we saw any unusual activity. This was terrifying, as the police said the migrants might try to break into homes seeking food, shelter, valuables, or worse.

This migrant story felt different. This wasn’t Cubans (who are only 90 miles from Florida) washing ashore on a makeshift boat made of old tires. This was a group of Haitians (who are 720 miles from Florida) being driven ashore in a state-of-the-art fishing boat. This was clearly orchestrated; by whom and why are the questions we need to ask.

Very little news coverage followed this seemingly massive story. Thankfully, on December 18th, Tucker Carlson opened his show with this perplexing situation.

As usual, Tucker’s coverage was spot-on! In part, he said, “The Haitians will be processed for removal proceedings. Feel better? You shouldn’t. That doesn’t mean they’re being sent home. In fact, most of them will not be sent home. Most will stay here forever. They didn’t come here legally — they came here illegally.”

All Americans, left, right, and center, should ask themselves, is this what you want? The people who say that this is what they want are supporting lawlessness. They are supporting “cheating the system.” And they are supporting terrorizing communities.

This is the view from my home, which looked much different during all of the chaos.

“Turning Point USA is a great outlet to get involved on your campus.”
