Defunding the Police Is Not As Popular As You May Think

Congresswoman, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, was once quoted stating, “Defunding the police means defunding the police. It does not mean budget tricks or funny math. It doesn’t mean moving school officers from the NYPD budget to the Department of Educations budget so that the exact same police remain in schools.” My fellow Americans, she is very clear as to what “defunding the police” means, as it is a complete and total lack of police presence. She thinks we need less prisons and more hospitals to curb crime rates as well as not allow police to be funded anymore than they are now. That is what the progressive Left means by “defunding the police.”
We all (should) understand the very simple concept that when police aren’t present there’s an uptick in crime. Recent spike in crime rates are indeed directly correlated with defunding the police. The more the Left perpetuates such a narrative as a moral good and claims “it is a net/moral benefit for cities” there will most certainly be a steady rise in crime. The ever-constant criticizing of the police and police procedures, resulting in the demoralizing of such officers, does nothing but further empower criminals to live out their life of crime and indulge in their innermost unrestrained, animalistic appetites. The senseless Chicago shooting of the young Puerto Rican couple by a group of violent thugs is a by-product of such manipulations and indoctrinations, for which will unfortunately become more frequent as long as this sort of rhetoric goes unimposed and unchecked.

However, I recall seeing a USA Today/Ipsos poll that gave me a glimmer of peace & hope in regards to the counterproductive “defund the police” movement. The poll reported that fewer than 1 in 5 people support defunding the police. I am truly relieved by this and more hopeful for our future. Data shows there’s a greater amount of people realizing this frightening reality after noticing the surge in crime and coming to the conclusion that we DO in fact need a police presence in our inner cities.
So, my fellow patriots, do not be discouraged when you hear that this movement is in full swing, because in actuality, it’s fizzling out. We need to keep working to spread the message that we support our brave law enforcement officers. They have quite an arduous task ahead of them as they continue to serve our communities despite being chastised, demoralized, and torn apart by radical Leftists for solely trying to do their job. They are fighting an uphill battle, but we will stand behind them in support, whole-heartedly. And to the law enforcement officers, I say thank you for your daily sacrifice, your service, and your bravery. You are indeed heroes, each and every one of you, and please understand you are not alone. God bless you all!
