Cornell And Governor Cuomo Team Up On COVID-19
Cornell University, an Ivy League school in New York, recently announced it would be teaming up with Governor Cuomo’s Administration to produce a new COVID-19 training program called the “Citizen Public Health Leader Training Program.”
The program is being developed in order to “give New Yorkers the expertise and tools to take an active role in community-led initiatives surrounding public health improvement, and prevention and response in the event of public health emergencies.”
In a promotional video for the program on YouTube, Governor Cuomo was asked how he can “inspire” others to take on a leadership role in future public health emergencies.
Apparently, Cornell has never heard of the major nursing home scandal involving Governor Cuomo and his response to COVID-19, in which more than 9,000 nursing home residents died from the virus by June of 2020 thanks to a state policy forcing elderly New Yorkers into nursing homes. Oh, and get this–the Governor and his staff underreported the number of deaths by several thousand. I won’t even mention the 200+ tips submitted to a hotline about Cuomo’s alleged sexual misconduct and harassment.
Aren’t Ivy League schools supposed to be the highest standard of academic excellence in the world? Perhaps they shouldn’t be teaming up with a disgraced Governor currently under federal investigation for his handling of a pandemic–let alone praising him as a leader for it.
