Biden Admin’s DEI Initiatives Surpassed $1 Trillion in Spending: Study

A new study has found that the Biden administration implemented hundreds of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives across US government agencies, with the cumulative budget for these programs exceeding $1 trillion.
The study, published by the Functional Government Initiative and the Center for Renewing America, identified 460 programs across two dozen federal agencies that allocated resources for DEI initiatives under the Biden administration. The total budget for these initiatives exceeded $1.1 trillion, though the report noted that this figure does not account for all DEI-related expenditures or every program within the agencies examined.
“The findings reveal a substantial increase in DEI spending, largely attributable to policy directives under the Biden administration,” the report stated.
The study found that 10 programs were exclusively dedicated to DEI, while 143 programs allocated “significant” resources to DEI initiatives. Another 306 programs incorporated DEI components to varying degrees.
On his first day in office, former President Joe Biden signed an executive order aimed at “advancing equity and racial justice through the federal government.” However, President Trump has taken a different approach. The president has pledged to dismantle DEI-related initiatives, believing they are unethical. Upon taking office, Trump signed an executive order eliminating “radical and wasteful” diversity programs within the federal government.
“DEI is deeply rooted throughout all aspects of the federal government, and it needs to be eliminated completely. Thankfully, the Trump administration has already embarked on a vitally necessary complete audit of each and every government program,” said Wade Miller, a senior advisor for the Center for Renewing America, in a statement.
Since Trump’s return to office, several major corporations have also scaled back DEI-related policies amid growing consumer pressure. Recently PepsiCo announced it would be eliminating DEI initiatives within its company, removing its DEI officer, DEI team, and ending all DEI trainings.
