What Veterans Day Means to Me
Veterans Day honors all of those who have served the country in war or peace, dead or alive. It was initially called Armistice Day, commemorating the end of World War I.
My grandfather, Joe Oliver, served in the Navy during WWll and the Korean War. After his time in the Navy, he spent decades as a steelworker.
He was the epitome of a man who fought our wars, paid our taxes, and built our great country.
He loved America and his family. He never complained or shied away from a hard day of work. He knew everyone, always had something nice to say and had a truly extraordinary life.
Rest in Peace, JoJo. Thank you for your service!
