Viral Video Reveals Terrifying Reasons Gen Z is Enlisting in the U.S. Military

Several videos of transgender-identifying active-duty military members have gone viral, detailing the accommodations they have received since enlisting.
Private Johnson, a “trans-soldier in the United States military” posted a video to TikTok explaining his medical transition process while actively enlisted in the army.
“This is my memorandum to start medical transition in the army,” Private Johnson stated, holding up the sheets of paper. “Exciting, right? I’ve been waiting on it for like a really long time . . . For the past 10 months, I have been working with my command team to start medical transition, and as of December 2022, I am allowed to start.”
“I was diagnosed with gender dysphoria by a military health provider and according to this memorandum, while medically necessary, gender transition is considered elective,” Johnson continued. “[The memorandum] also goes on to say that delays in treatment may affect the mental health of the soldier,” Johnson explained that the hormone treatment therapy he is being placed on will make him ineligible for deployment for three to six months. He explained that there is a waiver he can request to make him eligible for deployment, however, “which I do plan on doing,” he said.
“It also goes on to say that because I am transitioning from male to female, and will be lowering my testosterone while raising my estrogen, they do expect some difficulty passing the [Army Combat Fitness Test] while I am still having to adhere to the male standard . . . They recommend a period of 6 to 12 months before a record ACFT is required,” he continued. “I’m a strong girl though so I don’t think I’ll need that.”
Johnson said that the memorandum also lists the surgical procedures available to him in the future
TRICARE, the medical insurance offered to military members and their families, covers gender dysphoria treatments like hormone replacement therapy, psychological counseling, and when deemed “medically necessary,” surgical procedures. The insurance, however, does have several exclusions, including drugs used for cosmetic purposes — which some argue testosterone and estrogen are.
In 2021, a directive was issued that “supersedes all previous guidance,” and establishes that all Army service members will be eligible for medical sex change treatments, including surgical procedures. The same year, the Department of Defense reported spending more than $15 million in the past five years treating 1,892 transgender-identifying military members.
The military, the DoD, and other institutions have embraced progressivism and have made gender theory a key tool to recruit new members, which has backfired spectacularly, time and time again. Over the past 3 years, there has been a drastic drop in recruitment numbers, and many branches are desperate for new enlistees.
Another video that recently garnered significant online attention asked enlisted members why they joined the Army, varied from “money” to “free food.”
“Why did you join the Army?” the person behind the camera asked. The first two young women to answer told him that they wanted “money,” or “free food,” which were popular answers. A young man told the cameraman that “[his] dad asked [him] to.” One young woman said, “So I could get a reason to get pregnant and get BAH,” (basic allowance for housing), and another simply said, “I don’t know. I don’t know why I joined the Army.”
The recruitment advertisements being sent out have likely hurt more than they have helped, as enlisted members are portrayed by an animated, young female activist with two mothers, and diversity rather than cohesiveness, is considered a strength.
The disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, which led to the deaths of 13 service members, disheartened Americans and military members. The COVID-19 vaccination mandate resulted in thousands of patriotic and courageous military members being dishonorably or other-than-honorably discharged from service and dissuaded many from enlisting altogether.
The military, a traditionally nonpartisan institution, has become largely influenced by harmful and polarizing ideologies that threaten the strength and ability of the armed forces.
