Violent Crime Summer Is On The Way, Homicides And Shootings On The Rise
Forget Hot Girl Summer-America is bracing for another year of Violent Crime Summer in 2021. If you thought 2020 was bad, you’re in for a whole lot more where that came from.
After rising by shocking amounts in 2020, shootings and homicides are again on the rise in 2021. In fact, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Quarterly Uniform Crime Report, homicides rose by 32.2% in cities that have a population of 1 million+ in the final 3 months of 2020.
Homicides in New York City are up by 27% compared to this point last year, and they are on the rise in other major cities like Dallas and Chicago.
Shootings in Manhattan that don’t lead to homicide are rising as well–they’re up 86% from this point last year.
Is anyone shocked at this pattern? The NYPD was gutted of more than $1 billion (yes, with a B) in funding last year and violent crime raged to out-of-control levels. The same could be said for other cities that defunded their police departments, and it doesn’t seem that the continued media and social attacks on the police are improving society any more from 2020.
Every American deserves to feel safe in their own communities, and it’s high time we speak up for our brave men and women in blue who courageously sacrifice their own safety and even lives to protect others.
