When I think back to my lessons on capitalism in school, I realize I never really had an actual “what is capitalism?” lesson. Instead, it was woven into the lessons on the industrial revolution.
A good summary would be robber barons, monopolies, anti-trust laws, and oh yeah, how the fantastic unions stepped in to save the day from the evil business owners taking advantage of the working class because they were greedy.
Why did I not learn about the positive aspects of capitalism? It really makes me wonder…
