The Fearless Tigers of Fairview High School!
Turning Point USA has expanded drastically over the past ear after launching its initiative to create high school chapters across the country. I was honored this past week to attend the young and vibrant chapter at Fairview High School in Pennsylvania along with fellow contributors Stephen Davis and Morgonn McMichael.
Before we even arrived at the school, we were informed that the school board of Fairview decided to ban admittance from anyone who doesn’t attend the school due to security concerns. TPUSA representatives fought to allow outside attendees (like other events on campus) but were unsuccessful.
Upon arrival in Erie, we were greeted by members of the chapter to get the word out the school board and the principal further restricted admission to the event, banning any attendees who were not part of TPUSA, even if they attend the school!
With all of these new restrictions now put on the chapter, many students felt discouraged. But this isn’t our first rodeo. Stephen has traveled the country facing ANTIFA and other hostile groups, as well as numerous school boards that have tried to suppress his voice. Morgonn, as a former chapter vice president, shared her experiences with the students about similar pushback she experienced from her school.
The success of the event was unstoppable. In the end, the young minds in attendance eagerly came with questions and opinions they wanted to express. The event ended like most do: laughter, encouraged hearts and minds, and motivation to fight for what we believe in. The students were not alone, luckily, and two teachers at the event offered guidance on how to not shy away from leading by example and fighting for truth. Seeing faculty like this made us happy to know that there are still people who care for the young minds and the impact they will have in the world as they get older.
There is hope in the town of Erie and it is fierce and growing from within the halls of the Tigers of Fairview High School!
