The Bias of Big Tech

Big Tech is evil. They seek total control of what information we receive. What is Big Tech? The largest and most dominant companies in the information technology/social media industry in the United States; some examples are Google, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

By no means is it breaking news that fewer and fewer people watch the news or read the paper. More and more people are turning to social media for information. Pew Research from 2019 found that 55% of U.S. adults get their news from social media. According to Statista.com, by 2021, more than 1/3 of the globe will be on social media.

This gives these platforms a tremendous amount of power because they control the dissemination of information. As a society of benevolent people who are generally trusting, we automatically assume that these entities are good-natured, unbiased, and have our best interests at heart. In all actuality, this is not true at all. We are selectively fed information. This information is not factual but instead opinion-based. Whether the motivation is ratings, influence, power, or oppression, it is happening, and you need to be aware of it.

Many Americans see Google, a search engine, as an online encyclopedia. You look something up, and you get a factual answer. Sadly, this is not true at all. Google is a prejudiced corporation that hates conservative thought. It manually ranks entries and displays content to favor anti-conservative personal viewpoints. Project Veritas did an amazing expose on this topic. They provide ample proof on their website. Google also totally blocks some sources based upon the opinions of those sites. For example, a conservative news outlet, Breitbart, is not searchable on Google unless you use the word, Breitbart.

Social media platforms are just as bad in terms of censorship. On Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, users create content. In theory, the media should distribute what is produced without concern for the subject matter. Just like Google, the search engines are biased against conservative thought. The sensor, filter, and remove content on a whim. This is tantamount to suppression of political speech, but only on the conservative side.

As Big Tech grows insignificance, so will their influence and censorship. It is massively important to know that this is occurring. Educating yourself on what you see online is extremely important. Use alternative search engines like Duck Duck Go and find credible individuals to follow. Independence from Big Tech is crucial to a path of free thought. Be a free thinker!
