A faculty member at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison) started a GoFundMe for a black female professor who was arrested after taking property from a pro-life activist on campus and not cooperating with police officers.

In the video, shared to TikTok by Rickey Caster, the female professor can be seen approaching Caster, who explained in the post that he was on the UW-Madison campus to share the gospel and talk to students about the harsh realities of abortion. The professor then said, “I had an abortion two years ago, and I don’t regret it at all. They yanked the fetus out of my uterus,” she said while making vulgar gestures and adding, “I’m so happy.”

“I’m a professor at this university, and I make more money than you,” the woman in the video added.

While Caster spoke with the professor, a young male student can be seen in the background of the video throwing what appear to be tomatoes at the pro-life individuals who took part in the demonstration.

Caster was attempting to have a conversation with the professor when she began grabbing the cord of his microphone. He then called the nearby campus police officers over to ask them for their help in reclaiming his property from her.

“If I get arrested right now I would literally lash out,” she said to Caster.

When the officers approached them, they calmly asked the professor to “let go” of Caster’s microphone cord and to “walk away right now,” to which she continuously responded, “Am I assaulting him?” The officers informed the professor that if she did not release Caster’s property to him, she would be placed under arrest. A few moments later, the officers arrested the professor and walked her behind the demonstration to put her in handcuffs.

A teaching faculty member in the Department of English at UW-Madison, Amanda Shubert, has since posted the incident on the fundraising site, GoFundMe. Shubert claimed that the professor was “arrested for supporting abortion.”

“A black UW-Madison professor was arrested for counter-protesting an anti-abortion demonstration led by a TikTok preacher on campus,” the post began. “I am calling upon everyone in the Madison community who cares about reproductive justice, police accountability for excessive use of force, and dismantling misogyny and anti-Blackness on our campus to support our friend and colleague’s legal fund as they recover from this traumatic event.”

The post has already generated $1,512 in donations to the professor to “cover legal fees and incidental living expenses.”

A faculty member at UW-Madison started a GoFundMe for a black female professor who was arrested after taking property from a pro-life activist on campus and not cooperating with police officers.

In a follow-up video shared to TikTok, Caster said, “Some people requested to see the whole video … [The professor got] arrested for taking possession of my mic and cord, and disobeying a lawful order. The police officers were not in the wrong here.”

He added that he spoke with officers following the professor’s arrest and “discovered that she was scratching and pinching the police officers while resisting arrest.” Caster also mentioned that he did not want to press charges on the professor.

UW-Madison did not immediately respond to TPUSA’s request to identify the professor in the video.
