When Dr. Fauci was recently asked whether or not people who received the COVID-19 vaccine would go about life as usual without taking precautions like wearing a mask and social distancing, he responded as follows.

Fauci said, “I would recommend that is not the case. I would recommend you have an added area of protection. Obviously, with 90 plus percent effective vaccine, you could feel much more confident, but I would recommend to people to not abandon all public health measures just because you’ve been vaccinated.”

I find it quite confusing why we would need to wear a mask if the vaccine is indeed 90% effective. Furthermore, I can’t quite connect why shutting down our economy and preventing families from gathering for Thanksgiving are viewed as viable solutions IF masks work and IF the available vaccines are as effective as they claim.
