Pro-Critical Race Theory Teacher Exposed By Woodlands HS TPUSA President
Konner Earnest, a senior at Woodlands High School of the Conroe Independent School District in Texas, testified at the school district’s Board of Trustee’s meeting on May 20th to lambaste the school’s inclusion of Critical Race Theory (CRT) curriculum.
Earnest, president of his school’s TPUSA chapter (woo!), was one of more than two dozen citizens who spoke to the board, but over 100 community members came to the meeting to show support for speakers in the fight against the racist and divisive curriculum. Yet, not shockingly, the school board sat quietly and provided no response or even the slightest reaction to the infuriated, concerned parents and taxpayers.
Here’s a section of Earnest’s speech that really hit me:
“A year ago, I took the time not only to look around my high school but also our community. I noticed that in a community that markets itself as conservative that the high school that it’s zoned to only had clubs endorsing liberal ideologies. I decided this would not continue. I decided that teachers violating the Texas Education Agencies code of ethics would be held accountable for teaching their views and pushing their agendas in the classroom. When I was given this clip, I knew that our community was going to have our backs to a tee; not only that, but the community would finally be awake to what was happening in the schools funded by their taxpayer dollars. We decided we were going to bring this information to the school board and let them decide for themselves on this issue. They claim it’s not in the curriculum and said they have handled the situation with the teacher. Not to mention the superintendent claimed the clip was “click bait” before I exposed it. We know this will continue to be taught if no prohibitive measures are taken and none have been. Until the school board takes action, we will continue to show up and speak our minds. If you are a conservative and your school board refuses to take action on such a harmful ideology as critical race theory or says “it’s not in the curriculum” when it’s being taught, take a stand and speak out. You run for school board.”
Bravo, Konner! He’s right on the money. It’s up to us to take back our school boards and protect the minds of America’s future leaders in our own communities.
Even better, Konner warned of the dangerous complacency going on in “conservative” communities across the country, especially in Texas:
“Just because Texas and the Woodlands area are perceived to be conservative areas does not mean that everyone in those areas shares those values. In the event that we find someone not only using the money we pay in taxes to work against we should indeed speak out against it. In the cases like tax-payer funded lobbying and repealing the hyde amendment. Those are much high hanging fruits. But when a teacher I had as a junior is using her trust and time as teacher on the clock to work against the parents of her students, there is nothing worse and anyone who turns a blind eye to it, is apathetic to it, or works to keep it in the curriculum has declared war on you and your way of life.”
Earnest is a great example of a student that is not just going to sit on the sidelines and just complain while his friends, family and community are decimated by divisive rhetoric and ideologies. Instead, he is standing his ground, fighting back with the truth and, in turn, inspiring classmates, parents and influential community members to speak up, speak out and dismantle this curriculum that has no business in our schools.
