An Australian woman is suing her psychiatrist for professional negligence after he prescribed her hormone therapy after just one appointment — and later approved her double-mastectomy and uterus removal.
Jay Langadinos was 19 when she had her first appointment with Dr. Patrick Toohey, after which he approved the teen for cross-sex hormones, according to a report from the New York Post. During Langadinos’ second appointment with Toohey, she informed him that she would like to undergo a double-mastectomy, which he signed off on as well.
During her third appointment with Dr. Toohey, they discussed moving forward with surgery to remove Langadinos’ uterus, for no other reason than to attempt to affirm her perceived “male” identity. Now 31 years old, Langadinos no longer identifies as male, and is suing her psychiatrist for negligence, and for not requiring her seek out additional medical opinions before prescribing hormone treatments and scheduling irreversible surgeries.
The court filing states that Toohey strongly recommended that Langadinos seek social and family therapy, but she did not heed that recommendation. Despite that, he went ahead and signed off on her two surgeries.

Langadinos eventually, “came to the realization that she should not have undergone the hormone therapy or the first and second surgeries,” in her words.
Langadinos says in her statement of claim that the hormones and surgeries left her suffering from injuries, disabilities and complications, including early menopause, anxiety and depression, impaired psychological functioning and diminished capacity for employment.

Recently, numerous ‘de-transitioners‘ have found their voice and have begun speaking publicly about their experiences, and the consequences of medical transitioning. Doctors who vow to “do no harm” have no problem surgically removing perfectly healthy body parts from mentally distressed patents instead of treating the root cause of their feelings.
In the UK, over 1,000 families recently filed suit against a large gender clinic for negligence. The Tavistock Centre is accused of rushing adolescents into hormone treatments and irreversible puberty blockers after short and shallow consultations.
Thousands of people are currently undergoing unnecessary medical “treatments,” and we are just beginning to see the repercussions for hospitals and physicians who promote these harmful medications and surgeries.
