Why Does China Own Wind Farms in America?
Is it just me, or does the fact that this is happening completely shock you? I thought as a country, we could understand basic right from wrong. Obviously, COVID-19 and this last year have completely proven me wrong in that department, but WOW this is a whole new level of stupid.
It was brought to my attention by a former congressman from Texas, Will Hurd, who shared the thread below:
Hurd went on to say, “That company is owned by a former general in the People’s Liberation Army and now a member of the Chinese Communist Party. He’s one of the largest commercial real estate owners in the Xinjiang province, where the party is putting their ethnic minority population in internment camps.
“The owners of this wind farm also operate under a national security law that compels Chinese companies to work with the Chinese government or national security issues,” he said. “If they connect to our grid, they become part of a trusted community of providers who get intelligence on it, operational threats to it, and how these threats are to be handled. We are potentially giving adversaries the playbook and letting them know which play we are calling. I don’t think Texas should wait for the federal government to tell us what to do to protect our grid. That’s why I support Senator Campbell’s bill.”
