White House Posts Webpage Promoting Lab Leak Theory of COVID-19

The White House launched a webpage on April 18 detailing the findings of a House Oversight Committee concerning COVID-19. The webpage replaced the previously existing one found on pages under the now-defunct urls of covid.gov and covidtests.gov.

Titled “Lab Leak: The True Origins of COVID-19,” the webpage consists of several statements, derived from the committee report, that debunk certain theories and practices recommended and enforced by federal and state governments during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The White House states that The Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2 publication “was used repeatedly by public health officials and the media to discredit the lab leak theory.” This publication was “prompted by Dr. Fauci to push the preferred narrative that COVID-19 originated naturally.”

The “Lab Leak” page also addresses, with a map, how the Wuhan lab is 7.5 miles away from the Wuhan wet market, where the White House claims COVID was first discovered. The page further claims that the COVID-19 virus was not found in nature, but was man-made, contrary to the mainstream scientific consensus promoted by Dr. Anthony Fauci that the virus came from a bat. It also blames gain of-function research as the cause of the virus and considers it a dangerous research method:

“A lab-related incident involving gain-of-function research is the most likely the origin of COVID-19. Current government mechanisms for overseeing this dangerous gain-of-function research are incomplete, severely convoluted, and lack global applicability,” the White House stated.

The page also addresses former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who “forced nursing homes to accept COVID-19 positive patients.” The White House alleges “[e]vidence shows that Mr. Cuomo and his Administration worked to cover up the tragic aftermath of their policy decisions in an apparent effort to shield themselves from accountability.”

Several other malpractices during the COVID era are described on the webpage.

The 557 page House Oversight Committee report on which the page is based is located toward the end of the page.

“I would have done anything to have Turning Point USA when I was your age, so it really is a true honor to be here today.”
