“It was my mission to do anything I could to help bridge the gap amongst my left and right-leaning peers in the liberal stronghold of Boston.  – KJ Lynum, TPUSA Student Activist

Yesterday, CBS’s new free speech documentary featured TPUSA student activists—KJ Lynum and her fellow chapter members—detailing their uphill journey to share conservative values of freedom, free markets, and limited government with unwilling leftist peers and in the face of administrative roadblocks.

KJ explained how leftist students would argue past her points and insist that KJ shouldn’t criticize communism—even when communism rejects democracy and individual freedoms like free speech, freedom of religion, and free enterprise. When KJ refused to be silenced, leftists hurled personal accusations and insults against her for simply being Asian-American.

But then, in the most bizarre and shocking moment, a leftist student ate one of KJ’s TPUSA stickers.

Speaking exclusively to TPUSA, KJ recounted in detail the pain of trying to dialogue with leftist classmates in what CBS’ documentary wasn’t able to show:

“It was my mission to do anything I could to help bridge the gap amongst my left and right-leaning peers in the liberal stronghold of Boston. To look back at the footage, it truly breaks my heart to see the interactions captured on camera that day. As the months went by, as more people whispered around campus, as the college’s newspaper released article after article about us, the damage had been done.

KJ explained her desire to share pro-American ideals with her classmates, showing them how proud they should be of America. The work KJ did on behalf of her fellow classmates was personal and filled with charity. However, leftist students were not interested in what KJ had to say or share with them.

“Emerson’s campus is openly known to have a self-censoring campus environment-with students holding opinions or ideas back, in constant fear of perhaps saying the “wrong thing”. The very purpose of the high education system is to assimilate in the sea of diversity of thoughts.”

TPUSA student activists have also met consistent opposition from the administration, having been repeatedly denied formal recognition by Emerson College. Without formal recognition, TPUSA students are ineligible for campus resources and financial support.

However, leftists continue proving that their ideas lose against TPUSA’s conservative values. In fact, leftists recently formed a human wall in front of another TPUSA chapter, attempting to silence our students’ conservative message from reaching other classmates.

While Emerson refuses to formally recognize its TPUSA chapter, CBS’ documentary continues by highlighting a group of leftists who explain their own oppression—at Yale Law School.

According to CBS’ earlier reporting of the 2022 Niche rankings, Yale University ranked #7 in America’s top 50 hardest schools to gain entry, with a 6% acceptance rate.

“If you think Ivy League schools are tough to get into — well, you aren’t wrong.”
