Washington State Allows Minors to Give Medical Consent Without Parental Knowledge
A TikTok video posted by a legal guardian of a 15 year old boy in Washington State recently went viral, reminding parents that, in WA, their kid’s health and well-being have been taken entirely out of their hands.
Eli Holt (@mr.notnew) shared his frustration after receiving a phone call from the school regarding depression medication that the student neglected to pick up. In a follow-up video regarding the incident, Holt explained that the initial post was about his nephew, who he has legal custody of. Holt explained that he had no knowledge of his nephew’s feelings of depression, that he had seen a therapist, or received medication.
“They proceed to tell me they had a psychiatrist come to the school and give my kid antidepressants, and he’s been on them for several months. I had no knowledge.” Holt said in the viral video.
Conservative talk radio 770KTTH reported on the topic:
“Last year, via SB 5889 . . . forced insurers to cover gender dysmorphia treatment and gender-affirming care for minors between 13 and 17, without parental consent. It mandates that insurers deal directly with the patient without requiring the policyholder’s authorization.
It builds on SB 5904, which provides outpatient mental health treatment without parental consent for the same age group.”
Washington, which is arguably one of the most radically far-left states in the country, clearly does not see any problem with the school and “community” raising children rather than their parents.
In the follow-up video, Eli Holt doubled down, stating:
“If they’re gonna give a child anti-depressants that could cause suicide, I feel like an adult should absolutely be told about that and should know what’s going on.”
So many adults allowed these unchecked school districts and politicians to implement their ideology that is aims to destroy the innocence of childhood. The only good thing that has come from the left’s push to obstruct the relationship between parent and child is: it has woken parents up who were asleep at the wheel.
