After a full year of draconian lockdown orders, tyrannical oppression of the church, and leftist government officials who think they can leave marijuana shops, abortion clinics, and strip clubs open while enforcing closure of the church, China virus lockdown orders in California houses of worship have been officially put to an end by a California district court.
The injunction provided by the California district court states:
“It is hereby ORDERED that Defendant, [Governor] Gavin Newsom, in his official capacity as Governor of the State of California, all State officers, agents, employees, and all other persons in active concert or participation with him, are hereby permanently enjoined state-wide from issuing or enforcing regulations issued in connection with the COVID-19 State of Emergency declared on March 4, 2020.”
As part of the settlement, the California government will be responsible for $1.3 million in legal expenses.
Sorry, Governor Newsom! No more prohibition of indoor church services and in-home Bible study groups to appease your evident hatred for religious groups.
Closing the doors of churches has been both illegal and unconstitutional from the beginning. It’s a shame it took the courts a full year to come to this conclusion, but now people of faith can continue to gather together in fellowship without the fear of unlawful discrimination.
Our obedience is bound to God, not the government. It’s time the cowardly pastors who submitted to the reign of Governor Newsom over the last year realize this.
