UPENN Nominates Lia Thomas for NCAA “Woman of the Year”

The University of Pennsylvania has nominated transgender swimmer Lia Thomas for the NCAA “Woman of the Year” award.

The NCAA nomination page states : “the award recognizes female student-athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves in their community, in athletics and in academics throughout their college careers.”

There’s just one obvious problem: Lia Thomas is NOT a female.

Biological males competing in women’s sports are detrimental to the future of female athletics. They will take team positions, trophies, sponsorships, scholarships, awards, etc. away from female student-athletes who work as hard as they physically can to dominate their in sport. The advantage that transgender athletes possess over biological women is significant, and unavoidable. It will potentially cost young girls their entire future.

So where are the feminists who claim they defend women? Thomas, a 6 foot 1 man, has not only taken away the championship win from women who spent years training, he now has the opportunity to take away a formerly-prestigious award from a hard-working FEMALE athlete. For some reason, a man can slap on a one-piece swimsuit versus a speedo and suddenly become the most iconic woman in history. The only women society likes to uplift these days are actually men.

The NCAA Woman of the Year Nomination and Award Process states that, “member schools are urged to submit two nominations if at least one of the nominees is a student-athlete of color or international student-athlete.”

When reading this, it’s clear that the NCAA wants to incentivize colleges to nominate certain students for “equity and inclusivity” purposes. UPENN did in fact nominate a second female athlete: Iulia Bryzgalova, a tennis player who ranks among the top 10 in the country in her league.

I recently wrote about how FINA (the world governing body for swimming) passed new rules to restrict transgender athletes. The rule specifies that any male who “transitions” to female before the age of 12 is eligible to compete on the women’s team. While the new guidelines may protect women involved in college athletics, it also provides incentive for parents to transition a young boy suffering from gender dysphoria at an even earlier age. This is the inescapable negative outcome that will transpire when institutions try to bow to leftism, even slightly. Society at large needs to come to terms with the fact that men and women are irrefutably different, and should not be competing against one another in tests of physical strength.

We need to encourage women to stand up for themselves and their fellow athletes. This blatant attack on females needs to be shut down in its entirety.
