Over the weekend, a story shared by Buzzfeed News caught my attention–a man allegedly threatened to bomb the Merriam-Webster offices (yes, the dictionary) over the official definitions of “girl” and “woman.”

34-year-old Jeremy David Hanson, a resident of Orange County, California, was charged with one count of interstate communication of threats to commit violence.

Hanson apparently messaged the Merriam-Webster team through the “Contact Us” page on their website to complain about the definitions of “girl” and “woman.”

The dictionary’s definition of female is “of, relating to, or being the sex that typically has the capacity to bear young or produce eggs” and “having a gender identity that is the opposite of male.”

Hanson’s message to the company read:

“It is absolutely sickening that Merriam-Webster now tells blatant lies and promotes anti-science propaganda,” he allegedly wrote under the definition of “female.” “There is no such thing as ‘gender identity.’ The imbecile who wrote this entry should be hunted down and shot.”

Jeremy Hanson

PSA for all those reading–I fundamentally disagree with the dictionary’s push for a progressive vocabulary in modern America. This isn’t the first time they’ve changed definitions in order to appease the woke mob –but threatening to kill people or blow up office buildings because you are frustrated with the woke rhetoric is not the way to effectuate change.

We conservatives have the best arguments. Acts of violence are not necessary, and people who commit them do not align themselves with anyone in the conservative movement worth repute.
