In October 2025, a student at Arizona State University was accused of approaching a Turning Point USA chapter table, flipping it over, and dragging it away from the tabling location.

The motives of the student, Thomas Romero, were uncovered lately through bodycamera footage obtained from police by TPUSA.

The footage specifically revealed the exchange between Romero and police officers upon the student’s detainment. Romero explained his purpose for approaching the table after being told his Miranda Rights.

“Turning Point’s messaging is very white nationalist, neo-Nazi behavior, and I think they spread hatred everywhere to the point where people are being lynched and unlawfully arrested,” Romero said of TPUSA.

The officer then asked him “Did they say anything to you? Or was this the plan the whole time to go in and tip over the table?”

“It’s their social media mainly,” Romero said in response. “Under normal circumstances, I would never do something like this, but in this regime we’re run by a Nazi pedophile, and I don’t find that I can reconcile that.”

According to the ASU chapter, Romero was ultimately arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, aggravated assault on a police officer, and resisting arrest with physical force.

Instances of students and faculty members at American universities who sabotage TPUSA property have been common throughout the organization’s existence. In November, a professor at Westfield State University was accused of tampering with the chapter’s camera equipment.
