Dr. Mary Bucholtz has joined the Professor Watchlist for being yet another educator that advocates the nonsense of white guilt and systemic racism.

Dr. Bucholtz is a Professor of Linguistics at the University of California – Santa Barbara, and the author of “White Kids: Language Race and Styles of Youth Identity.” At UCSB she teaches Gen-Ed courses for students who are not majoring in Linguistics.

In a lecture for the Linguistic Society for America, Dr. Bucholtz made a series of comments that would be concerning to any student enrolled in one of her courses.

She started the lecture with a Native American “land acknowledgment.” This is the increasingly common practice of beginning an event by saying it is being held on “stolen” or “colonized” land.

As the lecture progressed, Dr. Bucholtz emphasized her passion for “dismantling racism and white supremacy in linguistics.” She also stated that as a white, cis female-identifying person, she is a “racist in recovery.” Bucholtz has a history of stating in her lectures that all white people, including herself, are racist and must acknowledge their racism.

You may be asking how there is racism and white supremacy in linguistics. Bucholtz explains in a workshop document that white linguists “have created, reproduced, and benefited from the racist and exclusionary practices of our discipline.”

We have come to the point where every school subject is racist in the eyes of the left. History, math, science, and now linguistics; the left claims that our education system has racism built into its core that must be dismantled.

This claim is a lie, of course. Students currently enrolled in college are spending tens of thousands of dollars in tuition, only to be told that they are racist because of their skin color. Professors should be educating students in a certain field, NOT indoctrinating them with their political ideologies, especially when their ideology is rooted in lies.
