Two Lululemon employees have been fired from their positions after reporting a robbery that occurred in their store.

Former Assistant Manager Jennifer Ferguson is one of two Lululemon employees from Atlanta, Georgia that was terminated after attempting to stop customers from stealing merchandise. Video recording from the employees shows three masked men entering the store and immediately began stealing clothing. After the employees told them to get out, one masked robber responded “Chill, b*****, shut your a** up.”

After the incident occurred, the two employees contacted Gwinnett Police Department to report the crime. Shortly after, they were fired.

Ferguson, who has worked at Lululemon for five years, is claiming that both she and her coworker were terminated specifically for intervening in the robbery and contacting the police. Ferguson claims that the company has a policy against preventing theft.

“We are not supposed to get in the way. You kind of clear path for whatever they’re going to do,” Ferguson explained. “And then, after it’s over, you scan a QR code. And that’s that. We’ve been told not to put it in any notes, because that might scare other people. We’re not supposed to call the police, not really supposed to talk about it.”

Lululemon has yet to comment on the specific reason the employees were fired. However, a spokesperson for the company stated that it has protocols in place to “uphold a safe environment.”

“The safety and security of our employees and guests is always Lululemon’s top priority, and we have policies and protocols in place to uphold a safe environment,” said a spokesperson for Lululemon. “We take thefts and vandalism very seriously and our focus right now is supporting our educators, as well as continuing to collaborate with local partners and law enforcement.”

This is just another example of the rampant retail theft plaguing our country as liberal cities refuse to enforce the rule of law. Earlier this month, Target’s CEO stated that the company expects to lose over half a billion dollars of profit this year. Likewise, Walmart has been forced to shut down a number of locations in high-crime areas because of the high rates of theft.

Too often, progressive criminal justice activists encourage criminal activity as a form of reparations for minority communities that are “marginalized.” Young adults in these communities are effectively told that there will be no consequences for their actions, which simply exacerbates the problem, incentivizes crime, and contributes to “food deserts” and a lack or resources in urban areas.

As long as our society refuses to enforce the law and enables a culture of theft and crime, this trend will continue to get worse.
