Things to consider when thinking about what matters to get on the ‘For You’ are how engaged users are, the subject matter you’re making the video about, audio & trending sounds, and of course, the use of keywords.

There are also indicators of user interest that depend on the length of time the viewer stays watching the content that dictates which videos get shown to what users.

When researching about this platform, I read where TikTok explained that “neither follower count nor whether the account has had previous high-performing videos are direct factors in the recommendation system.” Which I thought was interesting!

    • Get your viewer’s attention and make them want to watch the full video.

    • Does this need explaining? How many times are you on the ‘For You’ page and hear the same song over and over again? Use trending audio when it’s the right fit.
  4. Experiment with New Features
    • Hop on the new features when they come out. TikTok loves exploring more ways to make videos entertaining, so when they release something new, be one of the first users to try it out!
  5. Create Accessible Content
    • Let people know what your content is about before even clicking on it. This starts with the cover photo and then where it makes sense to add on-screen text or captions!
