TPUSA Polls Reveal Overwhelming Support for Deportation of Illegal Immigrants Amid Growing Security Concerns

Turning Point USA recently conducted a series of polls addressing the current immigration crisis in the United States, revealing widespread concern of the issue and an overwhelming support of the country adopting stronger border policies.
When asked, “Do you think the border is secure enough?” a staggering 98 percent of respondents expressed a lack of confidence in the current border security, answering “no.” Another key question, “Do you feel less safe due to illegal immigration at the border?” was posed to 811 respondents. Of those, 95 percent reported feeling less safe as a result of illegal immigration.
One poll asked 12,706 participants, “Should the US deport all illegal immigrants?” An overwhelming 87 percent of respondents agreed, stating that all illegal immigrants should be deported. Nearly 29 percent of those who responded yes reside in a state along the US-Mexico border. An additional 9 percent believed that only dangerous illegal immigrants should be deported, and only 2 percent said the US shouldn’t deport any.
These poll results come at a time when the nation is grappling with high-profile cases involving illegal immigrants involved in violent crimes. Earlier this year, a tragic incident in Georgia gained national attention when Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student at the University of Georgia, was murdered on her campus by an illegal immigrant from Venezuela. The assailant, Jose Antonio Ibarra, had a history of multiple arrests but was released prior to committing the murder.
In another heartbreaking case, 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray was murdered in Houston, Texas, by two illegal immigrants from Venezuela who had crossed into the US through El Paso in May. Although they were apprehended by border patrol, they were released with a Notice to Appear in Court. The two men later sexually assaulted and murdered the young girl, discarding her body in a creek.
Additionally, there are rising concerns about terrorist networks exploiting the US immigration system. A report earlier this year revealed that over 400 illegal immigrants had entered the US through a human smuggling operation linked to ISIS. Of those, 150 individuals were arrested, with law enforcement continuing efforts to apprehend more but 50 of which have unknown whereabouts.
According to data from the US Customs and Border Protection, migrant encounters at the southern border saw a record high of nearly 250,000 in December 2023, making it the highest monthly total on record. Under the Biden administration, a staggering 9.5 million encounters have been estimated, with another 1.7 million illegal immigrants classified as “gotaways.”
While the survey results offer valuable insights, it’s important to note that the respondent pool may reflect a particular perspective, potentially influencing the overall outcomes.
