Thousands of Catholics Shut Down the Main Entrance to Dodger Stadium in Protest of Drag Nuns Being Honored

On Friday, thousands of Catholics and Christians joined together in protest of the Los Angeles Dodgers honoring the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence during their 10th annual Pride Night. The “sisters,” a drag organization that have previously made a mockery of the Catholic faith, were introduced to a fairly empty stadium as thousands shut down the main entrance to Dodger Stadium outside.

Starting their rally at 3pm, the protest organized by Catholics for Catholics met at Lot 13 near the main entrance to Dodger Stadium. Several speakers from various backgrounds were present with speakers such as Turning Point USA’s Jack Posobiec leading the crowd in prayer. Within 30 minutes of the rally beginning, hundreds were already present, with the crowd continuing to grow into the thousands.

Speakers from all religious backgrounds were present to stand against the Dodgers honoring the drag group that dresses as nuns and has mocked the crucifixion of Christ.

Speaker, Rabbi Michael Barclay, stood in solidarity with the Catholic protesters sharing, “If you are anti-Catholic, you’re anti-religion, you’re anti-God, I got a problem with that.”

Organizers shared they wanted to make the protest visible to the public and around 5pm, the crowd began marching toward the main entrance to Dodger Stadium. Thousands made their way to Vin Scully avenue chanting “Save our Children,” ensuring their protest against the Sister of Perpetual Indulgence would be in public view.

The crowd ultimately took over the sidewalks and entire street, shutting down traffic and the main entrance to Dodger Stadium as thousands held signs reading slogans such as, “Stop anti-Catholic Hate,” “Boycott Dodgers” and “Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on us.”

While thousands were outside protesting, inside the stadium the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence were introduced and recognized in front of an almost empty stadium. During their announcement two fans began booing loudly nearby.

The “sisters” were recognized about 40 minutes before the game began, however, the Catholic protestors outside, who had already been praying and protesting 4 hours prior to the game, seemed to far outweigh any Pride supporters inside.

Per USA Today Sister Unity, one of the men dressed in drag, also shared that he thought the ceremony would take place “when the stadium was already full.”

Speaking to a guest relations employee, he shared that the Dodgers chose this pregame timeframe to recognize the “sisters” and that they would not be receiving the “Community Hero Award” given to them by the Dodgers, on field, or recognized again for the rest of the night.

When the game started, the Dodgers took time to recognize members of the LGBTQ community at the end of every inning, however, the Dodgers chose to recognize the sisters well before fans showed up or the game began.

Catholics for Catholics estimates that around 5,000 people showed up to pray and protest the drag nuns, with the protest garnering national attention, coverage, and praise from Christians and Catholics nationwide.
