FIRST THING’S FIRST: What’s up with the name? Jobob?

Yes, legally, on my birth certificate and all other government documents, my name is Jobob. How? One grandpa was named “Joe,” and the other was named “Bob.” After some disagreement over which grandpa I should be named after, my parents settled on both. And that’s how the world got a half Samoan son of an immigrant with a hillbilly name. If we’re being honest, junior high was rough with a name like mine. BUT despite all the jokes made at my expense, I’ve embraced and come to love my backwoods Mississippi name.

I’ve been in politics for about a decade working as a political consultant and communications director on dozens of campaigns. In the political world, I would say, “I’ve seen it all,” but if my experience tells me anything, there is a ton left to see.

Having been in the political space, I’ve known better than publicly expressing my own thoughts and views on how the world should work. But as things continued to get crazier and crazier, I felt there was a need for a different perspective and approach to conservative commentary. It was all too serious. I know saving the country from socialism is a serious job, but no rule says we can’t have fun doing it.

So in the spring of 2021, my wife and I sat on our kitchen floor and decided that I had to at least make an attempt to impact the way conservative ideas were brought to the public. I was lucky enough to land a gig hosting Daily Caller Live with Jobob and started sharing my take on the world each and every morning. Fast forward a couple months, and here I am at TPUSA HQ looking to further the conversation.

I was born and raised in Commifornia, as I affectionately call the once-great state of California, where my wife Crystal and I live with our two cats. I’ve seen firsthand how destructive more socialized policies ruin a state and the communities that reside in it. While I believe strongly in the laboratories of democracy, I often wish that I wasn’t a lab rat in the American equivalent to the Wuhan lab…

In addition to politics and the news of the day, I love playing, writing, and creating music. Crystal was the worship leader at our church for the last 7 years, which made me the utility musician. She took a step back from leading weekly, but we still play at various churches in Southern California and release our own CCM/Worship tunes. If you’re curious to check us out, “Know Wonder” is the name of our little duo, and you can find us anywhere you listen to music.

I’ve taken a crack at pretty much every creative discipline. I love to make stuff, whether it be photography, videography, design, standup, or even woodworking. As a matter of fact, I’ve had some pretty popular clients in that visual creativity space.

With it all, I’m hoping to bring some of that creativity to the conservative movement and offer a little more levity to conversation. You can always trust me to take silliness seriously.

I’m looking forward to everything that’s to come at Turning Point USA and even more excited to win the day for conservative ideals. I hope to remain as accessible as possible and look forward to meeting as many of you God-fearing, freedom-loving Patriots along the way. We’ve got a country to save.

God Bless America.
