About a week ago, I was sitting in the waiting room to see another ophthalmologist, and I posted to my Instagram story about how I got super glue in my eye.
I received a flood of messages asking, “How in the world does that happen?”
SO, this is how it happened…
For a long time, I have used THESE press on nails. I use them because they are so quick convenient, they never chip, and last for a week.
I still love them, but I look at them a little differently now…. haha.
What you do is squeeze a tiny bit of super glue provided in the package onto the nail, and then press on the fake nail for about 10 seconds for every nail.
Two weeks ago, I was in a rush to get on a plane to Miami, Florida, and I still needed to do my nails. When I got to my last nail, I squeezed the tube super hard, and it flicked up and hit me hard in the eye.
A little bit of glue spilled out and bonded to my EYEBALL (not my lid, my actual EYE).
I am stubborn and did not go to the optometrist, or the doctor, for a full week.
When I finally decided to go, my optometrist was able to take what was left out of my eye but told me that some was/is “embedded in my cornea” and that I needed to go to the opthalmologist immediately before it got worse.
So without going into more sad details, my eye is still healing, and I will likely make a full recovery soon. I might end up with a scar in my cornea, though.
If YOU ever get superglue in your eye, I would suggest going to the optometrist as soon as possible so that they can easily and painlessly wipe the glue out before it embeds in your eye!
