Whitetail Deer hunting is one of the most common species to hunt in North America. Every year, hunters purchase the proper tags and licenses to chase after this species to put pure organic protein on the table! But it wasn’t always like this.

Little do people know the history of how the whitetail population survived a drastic decline at the turn of the century. The population of whitetail deer was near 300,000 and on a downward decline at a very alarming rate. The reason behind the decline was due to unregulated hunting and sportsmen realized something had to be done about it.

In 1934, sportsmen decided to tax themselves on all hunting-related activities, and that tax, which is 11% on all hunting-related equipment, has raised over $14 billion that support State Parks, wildlife conservation (i.e., Whitetail Deer), and habitat protection throughout The United States. That equals about $8 million provided by sportsmen and women to wildlife conservation EVERY SINGLE DAY. 💸

Today the Whitetail deer population is around 30 million. Why is that? First, regulations that provided cultural value to wildlife. Second, Hunters contribute to their conservation. Nothing else can claim success.

Next time you see a Whitetail deer ask yourself: How did it come to be that there are so many whitetail deer around today? I think you know the answer. 💥
