Another reason POACHING is NOT hunting!
A couple of weeks ago, I wrote an article about how hunting and poaching are NOT the same. Often, people who aren’t familiar with hunting believe that going out to kill an animal is considered hunting. That couldn’t be further from the truth.
Hunting gives back so much more to the wildlife population than just taking the life of an animal. The money from licenses, stamps, permits, and tags goes back to ensure the population of species survives and maintains good numbers for the habit they live in. It also provides a way for wildlife research and development to happen. If you haven’t watched my video on how hunting is conservation, you can watch it here:
With that being said, I was scrolling through Instagram and saw a post by a guy named Ivan Carter, who works religiously with anti-poaching teams across Africa. He started an organization called Wildlife Conservation Alliance and aims to educate people on the harsh reality of what poaching entails and advocates against it.

Hunting is NOT poaching. Poachers go out and ILLEGALLY kill an animal. No money is generated when a poacher kills an animal, and it works AGAINST what the hunter’s responsibilities are- to benefit the economy, provide funding for wildlife research and development, promote a healthy lifestyle, and ensure a balanced ecosystem.
As you can see in the picture above, poachers don’t care how an animal is killed. They have no regard for a balanced ecosystem, and most importantly, they aren’t providing any value by their actions.
Always be willing to educate yourself and learn something new because you may be surprised by the truth! Next time you pass a hunter, thank them and be open to asking questions to learn more!
