I am a big believer in the primal differences between a man and a woman. When these two unique characters are combined, magic happens! When it comes to the unique role of a woman in a free society and, most importantly, in her family, we should embrace our special skill sets and lean in.

While I’m very excited to get to start and nurture a family one day, and raise the babies to be hands-on on the homestead, I understand I must be patient. Until that time, I spend a lot of my free time learning skills and bettering myself for my important future role.

Here are some of my favorite resources!

  1. Jones Roots Farmhouse 365 Challenge: If you want to learn basic skills in a variety of categories, I highly recommend you participating in this challenge! Every month, Jones Roots provides you a calendar of new skills and recipes to learn, including guides and ingredient lists so you can easily plan. It’s flexible and fun, and the skills you learn are invaluable for the future! You can subscribe on their website here.
  2. Farmhouse Book Co: I can tell you one thing: I am stockpiling the child curriculum provided by Farmhouse Book Co! Cheyenne summarizes her work best on her Instagram bio, saying, “I publish classic novels annotated to teach lifeskill like wilderness survival, sewing, home ec/homemaking, homesteading, & more!” You can check out her curriculum and other resources here.
  3. Ballerina Farm: If you know me, you know my love for Ballerina Farm is strong. They supply plenty of great resources, including sourdough bread-making kits, on their website, but my favorite thing about this family farm is the inspiration it provides! Hannah inspires with her nurturing ways with her 6 (almost 7!) children and her creative kitchen skills. Daniel, her husband, even made his own Instagram account to share the cowboy side of the farm. And you get to follow along as the three young boys tend to the cattle on their horses, and the three girls peep their heads into Hannah’s recipe videos.
