Once again, Texas shows the world what we are made of. The current wildfires blazing through Texas this past week are taking a toll on firefighters, ranchers, homeowners, livestock, and much-needed supplies.

It is a logistical nightmare trying to coordinate safe evacuations of people and livestock, organizing the many fire departments that have rushed to keep ahead of the fire line, and trying to acquire supplies to keep everyone safe and hydrated.

Unfortunately, low humidity, some drought, and high winds created the perfect conditions for a fire to spread this past weekend aggressively. Currently, there are two sizeable wildfires out of control in Texas. There have been over 71,000 acres lost and reports of at least four firefighters being injured fighting the blaze.

A slight relief was given by mother nature as thunderstorms raged across central Texas Monday afternoon, dousing portions of the fire but arousing fears of the lightning striking up more fires continues. The wildfires are not expected to be contained until late Friday.

Meanwhile, across Facebook, the outpour of support is overwhelming! Hundreds of Texans are volunteering to help fight the blaze; offering up their homes, grazing pastures, barns, hay, feed, etc., staging their trucks and trailers in areas ready to assist in livestock evacuation, organizing collection centers for food, clothing, water, and many mobilizing to deliver supplies to the front lines.

In this tragic time, it is always proven that there is nothing stronger than the heart of a volunteer, especially if they are a volunteer firefighter who is what this great state of Texas relies upon in its many rural areas.
