In the era of slanted news and misinformation, one outlet that has surprisingly steered sharply into the lane of politics–Teen Vogue. From publishing stories on socialism to abortion, they seek to indoctrinate the next generation one story at a time.
Recently, Teen Vogue published an article headlined, “Non-citizen Voting: New York Should Be an Example for Other States.” The author, Ricardo Rivera, claims election season is a period of empowerment for U.S. citizens to make their voices heard, but for noncitizens (i.e., illegal immigrants), “election season is just another opportunity to be excluded from the democratic process.”
Framing the issue as some sort of disenfranchisement (despite the fact that individuals barred from voting in America are NOT CITIZENS by definition), Rivera writes, “there has never been a better moment to make good on the nation’s democratic ideals and expand suffrage to all noncitizens — documented and undocumented — living in the United States,” and that legally this may be possible since “The Constitution does not explicitly deny noncitizens the right to vote.”
It’s beyond me why a fashion magazine for teenagers has now become a platform for woke political diatribes, but one thing is clear–politics is always downstream from culture. When cultural outlets like Teen Vogue publish insane stories like this one, it directly impacts the opinions of Gen Z without informing them of the full truth of an issue. It’s never been more important for conservatives to become directly involved with cultural issues to make a difference for the next generation.
