The number of Chinese nationals illegally entering the United States through the southern border has continued to grow, prompting many officials to voice concern over national security risks.

TPUSA previously reported at the end of last year that Chinese migrants have emerged as the fastest-growing group crossing the US-Mexico border illegally. In this fiscal year, border patrol agents have already apprehended over 24,000 Chinese nationals along the southern border.

Chinese nationals illegally crossing the border has increased by 7,000% since 2021 and is at a current pace to be up 14,000% by the end of this fiscal year, according to a report by Fox News

Earlier this year, it was revealed that the executive agencies had streamlined the vetting process for Chinese illegal immigrants. Internal emails from U.S. Customs and Border Protections obtained by the Daily Caller revealed that border patrol agents were instructed to reduce the number of interview questions asked to apprehended Chinese migrants.

Amid China’s increasingly adversarial stance towards the U.S., worries about potential security threats have intensified. Mark Green, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, expressed these concerns, also pointing out that the majority of these Chinese migrants who attempted to enter the U.S. illegally are military-age males.

“I think every American should be scared to death,” Green stated to a panel about border security back in February.

In a follow-up post on X, Green explained that he is not suggesting that China is going to attack the United States, but these unvetted migrants could pose risks should the U.S. become more militarily-involved with China.

“If we defend Taiwan, I can’t imagine there aren’t people in there who are going to be tracking our railheads and looking at our ports,” Green explained.

Concerns about Chinese migrants illegally entering the country come amid a record-number of illegal crossings along the southern border, with border states like Texas continuing to express resentment against federal officials who have done little to ease concerns.
