As crazy as it seems, in states like New York, you cannot carry conceal carry or open carry a handgun without a special permit from the government. To receive this permit, you must prove you have a SPECIAL REASON for why you need to have a gun on you outside of your home.
I’m sorry, but what? I’m glad to know the Supreme Court will finally hear this case and hopefully end this nonsense.
I was on Newsmax last week to discuss this outrageous requirement, and each of us on the show got to ask a question to the guest who was a constitutional lawyer. My question was: “What constitutes a good enough reason for carrying? Would the fact that I’m 5-feet-tall, 100 pounds, and want to LIVE if I’m ever attacked alone at night in a parking lot be a good enough reason? And his answer was as disappointing as I thought it would be: No. Each application is reviewed on a case by case basis by a faceless bureaucrat, so who knows if they would find my desire for self defense good enough for the special permit. Gross.
Here is my commentary on it if you want to watch!
