Students Protest Charlie Kirk’s Speech at FSU

Last week, Florida State University’s Students for A Democratic Society club on campus organized a protest of TPUSA’s Live Free Tour, hosted by Charlie Kirk. Their event was called the “Kirk off Campus” protest, and was organized by word of mouth and by handing out flyers. Though I tried to have conversations with the students gathered, in a typical leftist fashion, none of them wanted to talk to me or be interviewed.

The Students for A Democratic Society’s banner features a tagline that states “Dare to Struggle! Dare to Win!” Ironically, through the students were invited into the event, to personally challenge viewpoints and ask Charlie Kirk himself questions, none of them “dared” to do so.
Sure, they have catchy slogans that try to seem tough but at the same time, these people claim that conservatives on campus promote violence, and threaten their very existence and safety by having different beliefs. This is the ultimate victim mentality, being entirely unable to defend your own positions, and blindly assuming that anyone who doesn’t fall in line is a threat to your very being.
One of the signs that a masked man held up said, “homophobia, transphobia, racism, bigotry HAS NO PLACE HERE!” while chanting “Black Lives Matter” and “Trans Lives Matter.” They proceeded to claim that TPUSA is “anti-semetic” and followed up with a chant saying “from the river to the sea Palestine will be free.” In total, only about 25 college students showed to this protest.

After a long assessment, I’m not sure these protesters even knew what they were protesting. They have been told that every conservative is evil, and that all they need to know, no further question or thought is required of them.
