Students at the University of Louisiana Lafayette Protest Scheduled TPUSA Event Featuring Detransitioner Chloe Cole

Students at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) protested on Monday in response to an upcoming event on campus organized by Turning Point USA students that will feature detransitioner Chloe Cole.

The announcement of the upcoming event, particularly the fact that it will be held on November 20 which is the “Transgender Day of Remembrance,” prompted many left-wing students to organize a protest over Veteran’s Day. Protesters also flooded the event’s RSVP list with threats and comments like “kill yourself,” “death before detransition,” and “Chloe Cole is a closeted trans person.”

“It’s interesting how they say we spread hate but then they tell us to kill ourselves,” remarked Louis Cohn, president of the Turning Point USA chapter at ULL.

The scheduled event is titled “The Dangers of Transgender Ideology.” Cole’s appearance centers around her story as a detransitioner, where she previously identified as transgender and now publicly shares her experiences and regrets about undergoing certain medical procedures. Her activism aims to warn young people about the irreversible decisions related to transitioning.

According to a report by the Acadiana Advocate, more than 100 protesters including students and faculty gathered on Monday in protest of Cole’s scheduled talk. Malek Richard, one of the protest organizers, stated, “Today is about putting pressure on UL and Turning Point USA.”

“We don’t think it’s correct morally or technically for such hate speech to be allowed on UL’s campus,” Richard claimed.

In response to the reports of protests at the University of Louisiana Lafayette, Cole posted on X, “Omg I’m literally being protested at multiple universities across the country at the same time. This is hilarious, I was literally one of them a few years ago.”

“Turning Point USA is one of the greatest student organizations that we have in America that is fighting for Western ideals.”
