Starbucks has been more vocal recently regarding their opposition to certain union voting practices.
According to Fox News, over 220 Starbucks locations have voted to unionize despite the java giant’s opposition to these efforts. The company’s response to this involved a strong pushback on union voting practices, particularly mail-in voting.
Fox News states:
“Starbucks is requesting all current, pending and future mail ballot elections be suspended until there has been a thorough investigation from NLRB Inspector General David Berry into the matter and that “the outcome has been made public, and safeguards to prevent future misconduct have been implemented.”
Starbucks is widely considered one of the most left-wing companies in the country, so it is interesting to point out its opposition to two major left-wing talking points: mail-in voting and the importance of unions.
“Starbucks said it was made aware by the whistleblower that there were documents and emails between board officials and union representatives that show there was misconduct at the Overland Park store in Kansas City.”
Fox News report.
These documents showed, in part, that “board personnel have secretly colluded with the Union to affect multiple stages” of the election process, including providing, returning and counting of ballots, according to Starbucks.
The company’s concerns with mail-in voting is that it can lead to corruption and misconduct. Does that sound familiar? Because it’s the exact concern that thousands of Americans have been voicing about our nation’s election laws for at least a decade.
Then there’s the topic of unions. Although labor unions were originally formed to protect employees in dangerous working conditions, their integrity and utility have been greatly diminished. In fact, many unions are now plagued with corruption, deceit, impropriety and crime. Liberals love unions because they allow people to work less and get paid more, while facing no repercussions as the unions protect them. For employers, this reality can be a nightmare.
This is an interesting turn of events given that Starbucks is perceived as a company that is sympathetic to left-wing ideals. Is this evidence that there are those on the left realizing why these policies are flawed?
