The space race was one of the most PATRIOTIC times in the history of America. The only thing that could make Americans traveling at record-breaking speeds into a frontier that has yet to be fully explored is Americans NOT paying for it.
No one has pioneered this more than Elon Musk’s SpaceX. As a privatized business, SpaceX has streamlined its space missions’ success by not relying on the taxpayer’s dime to get them there.
For reference, NASA was handed about $22 billion, which is about .5 percent of America’s annual budget. In comparison, SpaceX is estimated to reel in about $175 Billion with their Starlink internet service.
The rapid success of SpaceX shows just how significant a company can be without the government’s tentacles inside every nook and cranny business. Without the government’s creeping involvement, SpaceX is also completing their goals at record time. With the efficiency of a privatized business, SpaceX aims to put a man on Mars by 2024.
Their budget is bigger and better, but they bring more jobs in, and Elon Musk has said he may end making SpaceX public once the revenue stream starts flowing. Of course, SpaceX isn’t free from using taxpayer money, but it is a step in the right direction for companies who want to go to space; they’ll just have to do it on their own dime.
