Let me preface this post by saying Simone Biles is a phenomenal athlete. I have always loved watching her perform.

I will also add that I am not delegitimizing a possible state of mental depletion.

I AM saying that Simone Biles DID let the United States of America down on the world stage.

Biles made a series of decisions here. She didn’t just appear in Tokyo. In fact, she shouldn’t have shown up if, in fact, her mental state was depleted.

–Or did this happen after she messed up a little at the beginning while wearing her leotard with the bedazzled goat on the back?

How many times has Biles been to the Olympics, again? This isn’t her first rodeo. This is nothing she hasn’t experienced before.

Part of being an Olympian is the mental toughness you endure while performing stunts that few people in the world can perform. That’s what makes you a champion.

Your duty as an Olympian is to represent your country on the world stage. It is what you train your whole life for, it is what you promise everyone around you, it is what you dedicate your life to.

Some girls train their whole lives for the Olympics and never make it there. I guarantee you, they wouldn’t have sat out like Simone did.

I played soccer for 14 years on the number 1 select team in the state, and I was also a gymnast.

You probably don’t want to know how many times I was screamed at by my coaches. They pushed me, both physically and emotionally. They had me doing hard things every day that I didn’t want to do. It made me great. So I just have to ask, where is Simone’s OLYMPIC coach?

Speaking from personal experience, gymnastics is a nasty sport, and the training is intense. Most days, I felt mentally defeated, on top of what was going on in my personal life and playing another sport.

Despite that, I could never imagine not showing up when the time came for me to perform because I was a direct reflection of myself, my work when nobody was watching, my team, my coach, my family, and my school.

In many ways, the decision of Simone Biles to sit out is a direct reflection of the state of our country right now.

We are justifying weakness, glorifying mental illness, we have a bunch of cry babies as adults pushing Socialism because they don’t want to work and others who “empathize” with those who don’t want to work, we give out trophies just for showing up, being tough on someone (whether it be a coach or a parent) is considered “abuse,” and more.

Imagine the reaction if Tom Brady said he was going to sit out because of his mental state. I m a g i n e  the reaction.

Every single Leftist entity immediately jumped to praising the decision by Simone to fold under pressure and subordinate to another country as “brave.” Let me be clear, this reaction is pure politics.

And guess what,

It wasn’t brave.

Champions do not quit.

Olympians do not quit.

GOATs do not quit.

I should not be one of the only people left in the country saying that it wasn’t brave for an Olympian to quit mid-Olympic games.
