Should ‘Trans-Women’ be Allowed to Join Sororities?

In the midst of viral videos from “Bama Rush Week,” the process of young women rushing for sororities at the University of Alabama, the internet erupted in controversy regarding whether or not biological men should be allowed to join sororities.
Grant Sikes, who identifies a female and uses the pronouns “she/her,” participated in rush at the University of Alabama this fall and went viral on TikTok by posting OOTD videos, explaining the rush process, and documenting the experience of trying to join a female organization as a biological male.
Quickly amassing more than 115,000 followers on TikTok, Grant’s videos were consistently amassing more than 1 million views apiece and spurring debate across cyberspace about whether or not sororities should offer bids for membership to biological men.
As the trans debate continues to heat up American culture, especially for Gen Z, biological men have been allowed to compete in collegiate and professional sports alongside women, attend all-female schools, and now rush for sororities. It seems the trajectory of the issue is only going to become more polarized, which begs the question — should biological men be allowed to join female sorority organizations?
Let us know what you think about Grant’s situation in the comments, and whether or not you think trans-women should receive bids for sororities.
