Canceling student loan debt is a terrible idea. First of all, student loan agreements are legally binding contracts with serious legal ramifications. Second of all, what message does that send to young people—sure, borrow money, spend money, and there’s no responsibility to pay back the money? Finally, what message does this send hard-working students who have worked extra jobs, took fewer vacations, saved extra cash to go to college? All around, canceling student loan debt is irresponsible!
