Shocking Video Shows Migrants Assaulting New York City Police Officers Near Times Square

A shocking video capturing a group of migrants assaulting police officers near Times Square in New York City has gone viral on social media.

The footage reveals a physical altercation between NYPD officers and a group of men on West 42nd Street. The officers are seen telling the men to move off the street around 8:30pm before the situation quickly escalated. The officers are seen being pushed to the ground, hit, and kicked by the group of men.

Law enforcement responded swiftly, arresting four men involved in the incident. Notably, one of the individuals had prior cases related to assault and robbery. Despite the severity of the charges, all four men were released from custody without bail. Police sources who spoke to the New York Post confirmed that these individuals are migrants and not legal U.S. citizens.

The surge in New York City’s migrant population has been attributed to the ongoing migrant crisis on the southern border. In 2023 alone, the city received over 100,000 migrants, with many being transported from border states such as Texas. Governor Greg Abbott’s decision to bus migrants to major cities as a response to their purported openness to migrants has resulted in an escalating migrant presence in NYC.

The soft-on-crime stance in New York, exemplified by the release of individuals without requiring bail, has also come under scrutiny. Police Benevolent Association president Patrick Hendry voiced concerns over the recurring attacks on police officers, emphasizing the urgent need for the justice system to work properly in order to protect officers.

“Attacks on police officers are becoming an epidemic, and the reason is a revolving door we’re seeing in cases like this one,” Hendry said in a statement. “It is impossible for police officers to deal effectively with crime and disorder if the justice system can’t or won’t protect us while we do that work.”

As New York City continues to be weak on the level of violent crime in the city, it is likely that physical altercations like this one will continue.
