A 17-year-old black student shot and killed a 16-year-old girl before turning the gun on himself, according to a report from the New York Post.
The shooter had a trail of concerning online posting and was dubbed a “self-loathing incel” by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). The shooter, Solomon Henderson, reportedly created a manifesto and posted his concerning beliefs on social media before he took the life of Josselin Corea Escalante at Antioch High School.
Metro Nashville Police said that investigators are probing “very concerning online writings and social media posts” as they attempt to determine a full motivation for the crime.
Escalante was fatally shot inside the school’s cafeteria and another student’s arm was grazed by a bullet.
Henderson reportedly shot himself before a confrontation with police.
Police noted that the shooting was partially streamed online using the platform Kick. The official X account of Kick said it condemned the use of its platform for live-streaming a shooting.
“We extend our thoughts to everyone impacted by this event. KICK rapidly banned the account and removed the video,” the post reads. “Violence has no place on KICK. We are actively working with law enforcement and taking all appropriate steps to support their investigation.”
WTVF reported that alleged online writings included odd statements from Henderson, including one where he allegedly said he “was ashamed to be black.” Henderson also reportedly posted antisemitic writings and posted a flyer in support of a neo-Nazi white supremacy group.
“I was so miserable, I wanted to kill myself,” one of his writings allegedly read.
“I just couldn’t take it anymore. I am a worthless subhuman, a living breathing disgrace. All my (in real life) friends outgrew me act like this didn’t f**king know me. Being me was so f**king humiliating,” the shooter’s alleged writings continue. “That’s why I spend all day dissociating.”
Henderson was also part of a forum where mass killers are celebrated, per the ADL. The forum most recently celebrated a tragic school shooting in Madison, Wisconsin.
