An event featuring Turning Point USA Founder and CEO Charlie Kirk, scheduled to take place at Chaparral High School during the lunch hour next Monday, has been abruptly canceled by the school.

According to a spokesperson for the Scottsdale Unified School District, the event was canceled because Turning Point USA advertised the event as open to the public, as part of the organization’s “Made in America” tour. The spokesperson stated that hosting a public event during the school day goes against school protocol.

However, at no point did TPUSA advertise the event as open to the general public.

The official TPUSA online registration for Kirk’s event at Chaparral High School clearly stated that the event is not open to the community and is only available for students and faculty of the school. The registration form also states that because this is a closed event, students must show a valid school I.D. when entering.

Additionally, all TPUSA tours are student-led, which was the case for this event as well.

The event at Chaparral High School was scheduled to be part of TPUSA’s “Made in America” tour, a series of events held on campuses across the country designed to empower students to stand boldly for American values. The events, which feature TPUSA Founder Charlie Kirk, aim to motivate teenagers and young adults to defend the values that make our country great.
