New Documents reveal that New York City Mayor Eric Adams spent $50,000 in taxpayer funds to send illegal migrants from the Big Apple to Florida and Texas, and even to South America and China after slamming governors in border states for transporting illegals to sanctuary cities.

Mayor Adams relocated 114 migrant families to a location of their choosing, according to a report from Politico. The outlet claimed that the “most common” destinations were Florida, which received 28 families from New York City, and Texas, which received 14.

Weeks ago, Mayor Adams accused border state governors of “play[ing] politics with people’s lives” and intentionally “hurt[ing] black-run cities.”

In response to the report on Mayor Adams’ actions, a spokesperson for Texas Governor Greg Abbott said, “Less than three weeks ago, Mayor Adams said busing migrants is ‘morally bankrupt.’ Where is all the outrage and condemnation?”

Last year, amid record levels of illegal immigration along the southern border, governors in Texas, Arizona, and Florida began bussing and flying migrants from overrun facilities to cities with sanctuary status across the nation. Sanctuary cities declare themselves “safe havens” for immigrants in the country illegally and supposedly shelter these individuals from federal immigration law enforcement, including deportations.

For years, sanctuary cities existed largely as a political stunt, as most are in northern states that do not frequently respond to the difficulties presented by illegal immigration. However, the substantial increase in illegal immigration over the past several years led to the collective decision from border state governors to put these liberal cities’ sanctuary status to the test. New York City now cares for more illegal migrants, 50,000 to be exact, than it does homeless citizens, of whom there are approximately 49,700 currently being provided for by the city.

New York City opened 174 emergency shelters, using hotels, public schools, and other public spaces “temporarily” to house the migrants. Mayor Eric Adams even proposed housing migrants in churches and private residences. According to Politico, the city is expected to spend over $4.3 billion on the illegal immigration crisis.
