San Francisco State University (SFSU) reportedly suspended its investigation into individuals who assaulted and barricaded Riley Gaines in a room during her speaking event at the campus last year, stating that the former NCAA swimmer’s accusations are “unfounded.”

Gaines was invited on campus by the Turning Point USA chapter at SFSU and spoke to students on April 6, 2023, before a mob of transgender activists flooded the room in which the event was held. Gaines was rushed to a separate exit in the back of the classroom by officers on-site after which she was chased down a campus hallway by protesters, where she then alleged she was “hit twice by a man” wearing a dress.

“I was ambushed and physically hit twice by a man. This is proof that women need sex-protected spaces.” Gaines said in a tweet following the event. “Still only further assures me that I’m doing something right. When they want you silent, speak louder.”

Gaines, while under police protection, was barricaded in a room for several hours while the violent protesters attempted to “negotiate” the terms of her release, even demanding money in exchange for her “safe passage” off campus, according to some on the ground reports.

Gaines, in an email sent to SFSU in January and reviewed by Fox News Digital, asked, “Can you please let me know if you have completed your investigation?”

“I wondered if you can share with me any conclusions you have reached regarding your investigation and whether any charges will be filed against the individuals who sought to threaten, intimidate and harm me? Is there a timetable concerning this matter? Is there any additional information you need from me?” Gaines inquired with the school, several months following the incident.

On February 2, an officer at the university responded, “After a thorough investigation, the alleged charges in this case are unfounded and have been suspended pending further lead.” The officer additionally claimed that the university followed up with Gains following the alleged assault, but said that emails from SFSU went “unanswered.”

The officer added that if Gaines were to provide “any photos and/or videos” or “contact information for anyone who was present that may have digital evidence” the case “may be further investigated.”

Gaines, however, maintained in an interview with Fox News Digital that immediately following the incident she met with campus police “for hours” and provided them with an official statement.

“We talked for multiple hours,” Gaines explained to the outlet. “I told them over and over and over and over and over again what had happened, which, all the while, both of the officers that I was talking to were there, so it is not like they didn’t know what happened.”

She said that when SFSU officers reached out to her in June and July, they had requested several follow-up meetings so that she could share her story “again,” despite having already provided officers with a statement and evidence to support her claims.

Gaines said that she “wasn’t willing” to meet with officers again, and told Fox that she had been advised against providing additional statements to the campus. The former athlete additionally alleged that campus police promised to provide her with security footage of the incident in July 2023, but said that SFSU “never provided the footage.”

“It’s an honor to be a part of this organization.”
