RV Dealer Refuses To Take Down Giant American Flag

An RV dealership is racking up fines after refusing to remove a giant American flag from its property, according to a report from the New York Post.
Camping World, which has hundreds of RV dealerships nationwide, has a giant American flag and flagpole at its Greenville, North Carolina, location. Local zoning officials say that the flag is 15 times bigger than permitted by local law. The city also said the 120-foot flagpole is too big as well.
Management at Camping World has refused to take down the flag or the flagpole in defiance of local ordinances. There have already been six violations from the city, costing the organization about $1,150 in fines thus far.
“The flag is not coming down,” said CEO Marcus Lemonis. “You can find me all you want City of Greenville, North Carolina.” He also added a hashtag to his social media post reading “#NoAmericanFlagIsTooBig”.
This isn’t the first time Camping World has gone to bat against local zoning laws and its giant American flags. In August, Stockon, California, officials demanded that the local dealership remove its similarly huge flag over worries that the flagpole could fall over.
“If we felt like we were putting people in danger or causing any issues with air traffic, which would absolutely not be OK, then I wouldn’t do it,” Lemonis told Fox40 at the time.
“It’s symbolism about how we feel about this country. We have a lot of veterans who work for us, and a lot of veterans who shop with us,” the CEO continued. “I happen to be an immigrant. I was given the blessing of being able to enter this country and become a citizen, and I’m grateful for it. It’s been part of my life since I was a little child down in Miami, Florida where we had the largest flagpole in Miami at our car dealership.”
